Get ready for the latest reality show courtesy of a family of Staten
Island hairdressers. TLC’s “Hair Goddess,” which is set to air in the
summer, can be described as “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” meets
“Jersey Shore” meets “Cake Boss.” In other words, there’s lots of long
dark hair, family infighting and Italian-style entrepreneurship
In other words, there’s lots of long dark hair, family infighting and Italian-style entrepreneurship in the mix.
The
series follows self-made woman Christina Oliva, who began her own hair
extension empire at the age of 18, and just opened a new salon in
Midtown. “I got everything on the loyne [line],” Christina said in the
sizzle reel shown to the press last week.
“We fell in love with
her,” said TLC President Nancy Daniels. “I love the accent, the family
came through as just rich, fun characters and it’s a world you want to
be part of.”
The six-part series got us to thinking they must be
putting something in the pignoli cookies in Staten Island, which is a
hotbed of reality TV talent. Other shows set in the outer borough
include “Mob Wives,” “Staten Island Cakes” and “Staten Island Law.”
